Six students were awarded the HRH Gyalsey Mathematics Award in the capital today. The test for the award among 2,000 students was conducted on the 13th of November, last year.
In the middle secondary school category, Tandin Zangmo from Lamgong Higher Secondary School in Paro bagged the first prize. Karma Kelzang of Dechentsemo Higher Secondary School stood second and Tshering Choden Norbu from Gelephu Higher Secondary School came in the third position.
In the higher secondary school category, the Royal Academy’s Sonam Norbu secured the top position, followed by Sonam Tobgyal Dorji of Motithang Higher Secondary School and Sonam Dorji Tamang of Mendrelgang Higher Secondary School. The winners, runners-up and the third position holder received cash prizes of Nu 150,000, 100,000, and 75,000 respectively.
The annual HRH Gyalsey Maths Award was instituted in 2022 to promote mathematics in the education system and also to encourage our Bhutanese students to take an interest in mathematics.
