As the nation celebrates the eighth birthday of His Royal Highness Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck today, the Prime Minister graced the opening ceremony of the 61st batch Accelerated DeSuung Integrated Training Programme at Pelrithang in Gelephu. The Prime Minister, during his three-day visit to Sarpang, marked his first visit to a district since assuming office.

In his speech, the Prime Minister encouraged the participants to make the most of the three-week training period.

He emphasised the importance of using this time to enhance their mental, physical, and emotional strength, preparing them to serve the nation and the people effectively.

“The DeSuung training programme starting on Gyalsey’s birthday is truly special. The fact that it coincides with this meaningful day, along with the training being in the Gelephu Mindfulness City is a positive sign. Gelephu Mindfulness City is dedicated to the well-being of our country and its people in the future. It is not just for Gelephu residents but for the entire nation. So, to those beginning the training today, remember it is not just for personal benefit but for the well-being of all our people.”

The participants expressed gratitude for getting the opportunity to take part in the DeSuung training programme.

“Firstly, I feel blessed to have the opportunity to participate in the 61st batch DeSuung training. Secondly, after my training, I wish to serve in the DeSuung office in Wangdue to the best of my abilities,” said Karma Dorji, a DeSuung Trainee.

“From all the 61st batch of DeSuups, I would like to wish our Gyalsey a very happy birthday. I feel very fortunate and honoured to be part of the 61st batch,” said Bida Wangmo Sherpa, another DeSuung Trainee.

The 61st batch of the DeSuung training programme has 450 participants and is set to conclude on 25th of this month.
