Police in Paro have detained two men on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking and a woman for failure to report a crime and aiding and abetting. They are all in their twenties. Following a tip-off, the police had been on the lookout for their return from Phuntshogling since Sunday.

According to sources, one of them crossed the security checkpoints in the car, while his partner and the woman made a detour on foot with the consignment at every checkpoint.

During a house search yesterday, the police recovered over 5,000 Spasmoproxyvon. All of them tested negative for drug consumption. According to sources, phone records and messages suggest that the two men are suspected main drug dealers in the district.

Meanwhile, sources also say the two males will likely be charged for illegal immigration adding that they are from India and have been residing in Paro as painters for several years.

This is the second case of illicit drug trafficking reported in Paro, this year.
