The Bhutan Green Hydrogen Roadmap was launched at the Bhutan Pavilion during the 28th Conference of Parties, COP28, today. The Roadmap is part of Bhutan’s commitment to advancing the development of a green hydrogen economy to meet its energy and climate goals, and to remain carbon-neutral through 2050 and beyond. The launch was followed by a discussion on green hydrogen development opportunities in Bhutan from a commercial and marketing perspective. Green hydrogen is considered to be the cleanest and most sustainable energy source that can produce electricity, power industry, and enable transportation. It doesn’t generate any polluting emissions into the atmosphere.

The Roadmap sets goals for hydrogen pilot projects and plans to match hydrogen generation with demand. It also outlines expert advisory groups and creates an investment packet to promote green hydrogen projects in Bhutan and demonstrate its energy strategy globally.
