The country’s first forensic science laboratory was inaugurated at Serbithang in the capital today. The lab, equipped with advanced equipment, is expected to transform crime-solving techniques and enhance the overall effectiveness of the Bhutanese criminal justice system. According to the police, they have also trained fifteen police officers to ensure the effective operation of the facility. Constructed at a cost of more than 100 million ngultrum, the project is funded by the Austrian Development Cooperation. The lab is expected to be in service within two to three months.
