The third round of the local government election today saw 39 out of 65 vacant posts fill. Seventeen Dzongkhags in the country had vacant posts despite the two previous rounds of LG elections.

The total vacant posts in the local government included by-election for two posts, five thromde thuemi posts and 58 gewog Tshogpa posts.

Elections for 42 posts were arranged today since 23 demkhongs did not have candidates. This means 26 demkhongs will remain vacant without elected representative in the local government.

As per the ECB, the voter turnout is estimated at 23 percent.
