More than Nu.2.8 million was raised by Pedling Choeki Gatsel Foundation, which will be used to support Lhakhangs and Goendeys.

Pedling Choeki Gatsel Foundation is a registered foundation under the Commission for Religious Organizations. It was founded by the Gangtey Truelku.

The Gangtey Truelku, Kunzang Rigzin Pema Namgyal, said the foundation aims to raise a total amount of US$ five million.

“Keeping it as seed money, with the interest, we want to support Lhakhangs and Goendeys. We also plan to use some fund as a disaster relief for the Lhakhangs.”

He also said the foundation would like to help the government during the time of disaster.

“The three main objectives of the Foundation are to organise religious activities, provide education to children from underprivileged families and to preserve our age old tradition and culture,” said the Gangtey Truelku.

The fund raising programme for the foundation was held at the YDF hall in Thimphu.

The Foundation has around 43 Shedras, Goendeys and Nunneries across the country.
