Three community police centres at Taba, Changjiji and Kasardrupchu in Thimphu were launched today. The community police centres will receive complaints and investigate cases. It will function as mini police stations.

The center at Changjiji, which will also cover Olakha area, will be different from the earlier police outpost.  The new center will be headed by an officer and 10 other police personnel. The center will be well-equipped with vehicle, motor bikes and cycles.

The police centers were launched in order to fight the growing crime rate in the capital. Over 2,700 cases were registered with the Thimphu City Police last year alone.

Three more new community police centers within Thimphu are expected to be launched soon.
