Cabinet endorses IDA credit of US$ 45 mn

The Lhengye Zhungtshog endorsed the International Development Association (IDA), credit of US$ 45 million from the World Bank. The credit is for the development policy credit and for remote rural community development.

The cabinet also endorsed the government’s intention to become a member of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). This is to help promote foreign direct investment and external commercial borrowing by private and corporate sector.

The government will now sign the MIGA convention which will be submitted to the next session of the parliament for ratification.

The meeting also endorsed the amendments to the passport manual 2006. Passports with more than six months validity required will now be issued with new travel document. This is being done to help especially, students on long term studies abroad.

The 145th Lhengye Zhungtshog was held yesterday.
