The Prime Minister has asked Attorney General Lungten Dubgyur to submit an explanation in line with the news of the Judiciary suspending two High Court Justices on deliberate miscarriage of justice. According to the Media and Communication Unit of the Judiciary, the two Justices were suspended for six months for deliberate miscarriage of justice in a drug smuggling and possession case.

According to section 63 of the Office of the Attorney General Act of Bhutan 2015, “The Attorney General shall be accountable to the Druk Gyalpo and the Prime Minister.”

According to a news release from the Supreme Court, the grievance cell received complaints of collusion among Kuensel’s Dzongkha Editor, the Attorney General and the presiding justice in the case.

Meanwhile, Kuensel told BBS that they have no comments as the drug smuggling and possession case involves the son and not the editor.
