His Holiness the Je Khenpo appoints Lam of Merak Sakteng Goenzin Dratshang, Trashigang

His Holiness the Je Khenpo conferred Dhar to appoint the new Lam of Merak Sakteng Goenzin Dratshang of Trashigang. The Dhar was conferred at Tashichhodzong this morning. 40-year-old Rinchen Dorji from Merak joined monkhood at the age of six and completed his studies from Tango University in Thimphu. He served as a teacher at the Kanglung Wogmin Choekhortse Shedra in Trashigang and later underwent retreat for six years in Pangkarpo in Punakha. Prior to his current appointment, he served as a teacher at Yangpai Goenpai Drubdey in Punakha for six years. Currently, there are about 50 monks at Merak Sakteng Monastic School.
