A 42-year-old man from Semjong Gewog in Tsirang has been sentenced to nine years in prison for the voluntary manslaughter of his 52-year-old uncle. Tsirang District Court passed the judgment on the 12th of this month. The incident happened in April this year in the deceased’s house.
According to the judgment, the convict intervened when his uncle, who was under the influence of alcohol was about to beat his wife. In the fight that followed, the convict hit his uncle on the head twice, resulting in severe head injuries. The uncle later passed away at the hospital.
The court has ordered the convict who was also intoxicated during the incident to transfer the ownership of his 10 decimal dry land or pay a compensation amounting to Nu 200,000 to the deceased’s wife within six months after completing his prison term in 2032. The deceased is survived by his wife and two children.
