The Zhemgang police have now forwarded the case of Zhemgang Central School’s warden battering a class eight student to the district court. The case was forwarded last week. The case came into the limelight last month, but it was settled mutually with the boy’s guardian and not reported to the police.
However, BBS learnt that the Pema Secretariat based in Thimphu has asked the Zhemgang police to investigate the case and take the warden to court. The class eight boy was slapped and punched in his face and was beaten by a water pipe during lunchtime on the 15th of last month.
The case caught media attention after a parent raised concerns in a social media group.
