During the deliberation of the Annual Audit Report 2021-2022, members of parliament expressed their concerns about the deteriorating condition of the Gewog Centre roads. They also questioned the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport regarding the progress of construction and maintenance of these roads, now being taken over by the Department of Surface Transport. In response, the Minister said that in previous years, the budget allocated for GC roads was not fully utilised. This led to poor quality of roads. However, the minister assured the members that steps are being taken to address the situation. He said the ministry will take back the maintenance and construction of the GC roads by next year.
