During the question hour session of the National Assembly today, Sombaykha MP Dorjee Wangmo questioned when the loans from BDBL and the National CSI Bank would be made available again. The MP said the loan suspension has affected rural communities and small businesses. The Prime Minister responded that the Royal Monetary Authority, RMA has suspended the loans due to a high ratio of Non-Performing Loans, NPLs. The ratio now stands at around 15 per cent, which should actually be maintained below 5 per cent. The government is awaiting valid reasons from the RMA for the extended moratorium period of over one and a half years.
