The 48 seat ATR-42 Drukair successfully landed at the Gelephu airport on its first test flight today. The flight took off from Paro International Airport and landed at Gelephu airport after about 20 minutes.

The flight hovered around in the air completing three rounds before descending to the ground. This was done in order to survey the route and get actual feel of the airport location and its surrounding.

Drukair crew members and civil aviation’s people were the first to board the test flight.

The formal inauguration of the airport will be held on Thursday.
