The Dorsem Tongku or one thousand Dorje Sempa Statues Project has been completed and is ready for installation. The project worth Nu 8 M commenced in June last year. It was initiated by the Longchenpa Center in Bumthang in collaboration with Shingkhar Dechenling Phendhay Tshogpa in Thimphu for the well-being of all sentient beings.

The statues of the Dorje Sempa or the Vajra Sattva ranging from nine inches to seven feet have been crafted using gold, silver, and copper materials. While the statues were made in Delhi, samples crafted by Bhutanese artists were sent from the country.

The relics were consecrated by His Holiness the Je Khenpo recently.

According to the chairperson of the Longchenpa Center, the project serves the purpose of purifying accumulated sins of sentient beings resulting from failing to uphold commitments made during empowerments.

The Longchenpa Centre is registered with the Commission of Religious Organisations in the country.

“The best way to cleanse off the breaking of the Samaya is to engage ourselves in that practice and especially because of a dualistic mind. It would be better if we engage ourselves in the practice of the Vajra Sato Buddha. What we’re doing here is trying to play safe for all the faults that we have made from the numerous empowerments that we have taken by building the thousand Vajra Sattva statues. So, we hope that we’ll be able to at least help ourselves and people who are connected with us to sort of lessen their Bad Karma,” said Ngodup Dorji, Shingkhar Lam, Longchenpa Centre.

The statues will be boxed and sent for installation in the reconstructed Drubi Rinchen Jungney Lhakhang at Shingkhar in Bumthang. The statues will be installed this Sunday. The Drubri Rinchen Jungney Lhakhang originally dates back to the 1300s.
