The National Assembly adopted the National Digital Identity Bill of Bhutan 2023 today. All 42 members present in the house voted in favour of the bill. It will be forwarded to the National Council today and the house will deliberate on the bill from tomorrow.

While adopting the bill, the House endorsed that the members of the Governing Body, and the Administrative Body of the National Digital Identity System will be levied equal penalties as any other user in case of offences or lapses. On Friday, some members raised concerns that the penalty for the Governing Body, and the Administrative Body is less as compared to common users.
