Thousands of devotees in the eastern districts are attending the first-ever Jungwa Chidoe Kurim in the eastern region which is underway at Gomphu Kora in Trashi Yangtse. The five-day prayer ceremony began yesterday.

The ritual is conducted for the wellbeing of Their Majesties The Kings, the members of the royal family and the people. It is also to avert the risks of calamities in the world.

“If devotees who are spiritually vulnerable to illnesses this year can make offerings at the ritual, they will not have to conduct private rites at home for their wellbeing,” said Tshewang Dorji, Principal of Gomphu Kidpeling Astrology School.

The Trashigang and Trashi Yangtse Lam Netens are presiding over the prayers with around 80 monks. There are plans to make it an annual event hereafter.
