Arrival of a truckload of gas cylinders has helped ease LPG cylinder shortage in Trashigang. Many residents had been waiting for gas cylinders since last week.

Many unhappy residents had even complained of unequal distribution.

The Bhutan Oil Corporation’s Manager in Trashigang, Dili Kumar Bhandari, said they give gas cylinders to those who produce the consumer card. They bring cards in bulk and we issue them the cylinders. “It will be inconvenient for people to come individually just to get a gas cylinder. So people are forming groups to get the gas cylinders at once.”

The Bolero drivers who were transporting the gas cylinders in bulk said they were not doing any business. “Civil servants and farmers in the gewog sent us to get the gas cylinders,” said Karma, one of the Bolero drivers.

The Bhutan Oil Corporation officials restricted the supply of gas cylinder yesterday for equal distribution. A few cylinders were kept aside for emergency use.

Another truckload of gas cylinder is expected to arrive in Trashigang in about three days.
