The Punakha District Court acquitted Shenga-Bjemi Gup, Samten Phuntsho and three individuals of allegations related to a state land encroachment case. The judgement was rendered last week. The Office of the Attorney General, OAG charged the Gup for allegedly registering an 80-decimal state land in Shenga-Bjemi Gewog in his wife’s name.

The OAG also charged the wife, two Sai Tshogpas and a land surveyor for their alleged involvement in the case last year. However, no concrete evidence of fraudulent practices could be established against the defendants. The land was surveyed for reinstatement after it was found as an Omitted Land in the registration certificate of the Gup’s wife.
