
Ignoring lane-changing rules has become a habit amongst Bhutanese drivers according to traffic officials. They say people either do not know about the rules or simply do not follow it. This is especially prevalent on the expressway in Thimphu. In the last four months, the Thimphu Traffic Division fined sixteen drivers for violating the rules which amounted to over Nu 9,500. To remind drivers about lane discipline, the Traffic Police recently initiated an awareness campaign in Thimphu.
