The government has initiated works for the country to join the WTO, World Trade Organization. However, there are dilemmas over if Bhutan should propose the membership now or after graduating from the LDC category. The Prime Minster Dr Lotay Tshering said the ministry and agencies concerned have been instructed to study the processes of the accession procedure and advise the government. Joining the organization will enable Bhutan to trade with 59 additional countries but there will be also several compliance costs.
