Olympasia House, the Bhutan Olympic Committee’s new office will now serve to promote sports in the country. His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, the President of the BOC, inaugurated the new office today.

The three-storied building will now serve as office space for the Bhutan Olympic Committee. According to the BOC, the new office will resolve the space crunch issues.

The construction of the office was partly funded by the Olympic Council of Asia.

‘‘This new office building is not just a physical space but also symbolises a new phase of growth collaboration, representing our organisation’s growth and progress under the leadership of HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck. It will be a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation, and I believe, will inspire us all to greater heights of achievement,’’ said Sonam Karma Tshering, the secretary general of BOC.

The Olympic Council of Asia has also supported the construction of five other projects such as a multi-sports hall in Gelephu, Monggar, Trashigang, and a swimming pool in Thimphu.

‘‘The objective is to develop the Bhutan Olympic movement and the sports to be able to present Bhutan in the international competition and to show a good standard, not a medal, a good standard and this is our objective,’’ said Husain AHZ Al-Musallam, the director general of Olympic Council of Asia.

About Nu 50 M was spent to complete the construction, which began in 2017 and was completed in 2021.
