“If we do not have passionate teachers, if we do not have dedicated teachers, teachers who enjoy teaching, who have fun with teaching, who celebrate teaching, we will not be able to go very far.” The education minister, Thakur Singh Powdyel, was speaking at the occasion of the World Teacher’s Day today.
To pay tribute to the teachers, some 19 schools in Thimphu came together to take part in a drama festival at Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School. The drama festival was a showcase of the talents of students in various fields including music, art, literature, painting and photography.
“We may have fabulous facilities, state of the art equipment, tremendous resources and very highly motivated students but at the end of the day if we do not have passionate teachers…we will not go very far,” said Lyonpo Thakur Singh Podwyel. “That is why on the world teachers’ day I would like to pay tributes to our own teachers at home, as well as teachers all around the world.”
The festival was organized by Armed forces school project and Dechenchholing Middle Secondray School.
