Starting this year’s paddy transplantation season, farmers of Zham village in Lhuentse’s Minjey Gewog will have sufficient irrigation water. The new Longorchhu Integrated Irrigation Scheme was completed and handed over to the Minjey Gewog Administration today.

The irrigation water project will benefit some 42 households. The completion of the project is expected to increase agricultural production, which in turn will increase income for the farmers of Zham.

There are more than 112 acres of wetland and 268 acres of dryland.

The Nu 32 M project was implemented in partnership with the DeSuung National Service and the agriculture and livestock ministry. The irrigation project will also solve drinking water issues in Zham village.
