Pema Gatshel nominates three candidates for upcoming NC elections

Pema Gatshel has nominated three aspiring candidates to contest the upcoming National Council elections. The Dhamngoi Zomdu in the 11 gewogs of the district ended on Thursday.

Dechhenling Gewog has nominated the incumbent NC member Choning Dorji from Yangmalashing village. As the lone aspiring candidate from the gewog, the 52-year-old secured 337 yes votes and 26 no votes.

In Nanong Gewog, 49-year-old Yeshi Jamtsho from Wungchhilo village is the only aspiring candidate. He secured 340 YES and 16 NO votes.

Shumar Gewog had two aspiring candidates. The gewog nominated 34-year-old Jamyang Namgyal from Nangkor village as their aspiring NC candidate. He secured 378 votes while his opponent Sherig Dentshog from Shumar village secured 329 votes.

People of the eight remaining gewogs also participated in the Dhamngoi Zomdu in their respective gewogs to file the ‘no nominee’ statement.

More than 2,000 people participated in Dhamngoi Zomdu in 11 gewogs.
