The residents of Tingtibi travel 30 kilometres to Zhemgang to avail banking facilities, which they say is time consuming and inconvenient. Residents say introducing an ATM facilities in Tingtibi would make their lives easier.
Tingtibi is a satellite town. The otherwise quiet and sparsely populated town is seeing an increasing number of people. More people have started coming to the town as it offers the possibilities of business opportunities that the upcoming Chamkhar Hydro Power project would bring about.
Given the development taking place, the residents say an ATM facility is necessary in the town. Currently, Tingtibi residents travel either to Zhemgang or Gelephu for banking services.
The Bank of Bhutan officials in Zhemgang said they will install ATM in Tingtibi only after the commissioning of Chamkhar Hydro Power project, which would take a few years.
