While quantity is an issue in regard to teachers in the country, quality is an even bigger concern. This is according to the Prime Minister who stated this during the recent Meet the Press session. He said the government is currently looking at the possibility of regularizing contract teachers. Lyonchhen said contract teachers can be as capable as regularized teachers, or even better. The Prime Minister added that the attrition rate for teachers right now is not higher than in the civil service. Talking about the shortage of teachers, he said the shortage has always been there which has been covered by recruiting contract teachers.
