The Indian government will support the government’s initiatives for developing Bhutan into a high-income country. The Indian Foreign Secretary assured this during the fourth Bhutan-India Development Cooperation Talks of the 12th Five-Year Plan. The talk was held in the capital today and was co-chaired by Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Bhutan’s Foreign Secretary Pema Choden.

The Indian Government expressed satisfaction with Bhutan’s progress of projects post-covid and assured the Bhutanese government smooth release of funds in a time-bound manner.

The two sides also noted with satisfaction the progress of the Government of India-assisted projects in the current five-year plan.

During the talks, the two sides also exchanged views on the 13th plan.

On the sidelines of the talks, the Indian Foreign Secretary and Bhutan’s Foreign Secretary met to discuss issues of mutual interest.

The Indian Foreign Secretary is in Bhutan at the invitation of his counterpart Pema Choden and will be leaving the country tomorrow.
