New Year to be a good year for farming

The new year has been predicted to be a good year for farming. According to the Pangrizampa College for Astrology, the water female rabbit year will receive plenty of rainfall across the country. But the college says there are risks of flash floods in high-altitude areas.

The new year has already started according to the Bhutanese calendar. Saturday was the first day of the Bhutanese new year.

As per the College for Astrology, there will be some global crisis this year.

‘‘In general, crop production will be good this year. Likewise, the trees and flowers will also grow well. But the world including our country will face an economic crisis because of the world policy,’’ said Karma Dendup, a teacher at the College for Astrology located at Pangrizampa.

He added that to prevent such problems, several prayers need to be conducted.

‘‘In general, we will face water-related problems, and to prevent this, we have to please our local deities and other deities. We have to pray to Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel and chant the  Jigten Wangchuk prayer,” he said. “Like-wise, if people in different areas can pray on their own, it will minimize the risk.’’

While carrying out any endeavour, he said that it will be lucky to start the work with someone born in the Male Snake year, whose age will be either 59, 35, or 11, and whose both parents are alive.

And those born in the pig, sheep, bird and rabbit years need to be careful as it is an unlucky year for them.

Meanwhile, this year’s inauspicious months fall on the third and ninth months of the Bhutanese calendar.
