A fully-grown leopard entered a house and attacked a 45-year-old man at Laithang Goenpa under Monggar Dzongkhag at 7 p.m. yesterday. The leopard lashed at Sangay Tshering and bit him on his chest and head as he was trying to fend off the animal.

There were four of them in the house including two children. Their shout for help brought the villagers to the house and they chased the animal away before it could turn its attack on rest of the family members.

Sangay Tshering is being treated by the local health workers and is said to be in a stable condition. The health workers said Sangay Tshering will be taken to Gyelpozhing Basic Health Unit (BHU) for treatment. The BHU is about a day walk from Sangay Tshering’s village.
