The Prime Minister, Jigmi Y.Thinley arrived in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh yesterday morning. Lyonchhoen was received at the Raja Bhoj Airport by the Chief Minister, Governor and the senior officials of Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, congratulated Lyonchhoen for taking the philosophy of GNH to a global level. He said happiness is crucial for inner peace and that he personally believes happiness will not grow even if GDP does. The Chief Minister said people of Madhya Pradesh are pleased to receive Lyonchhoen and the Bhutanese delegation for the foundation stone laying ceremony for a Buddhist University. “We are fortunate to get all kinds of guidance and assistance for the same.”
Lyonchhoen said the Buddhist University is an opportunity to co-operate in Buddhist studies and further strengthen the friendship and bond between Bhutan and India.
Lyonchhoen also met with the seven Bhutanese students studying in Bhopal.
Today, Lyonchhen attended the foundation stone laying ceremony at Sanchi.
