A new water project has been launched in Wangdue Phodrang to ensure a reliable water supply to the Sturgeon Farming project located at Harachhu in Athang Gewog. The project is carried out under the DeSuung National Service and was inaugurated on December 13.
It will supply reliable and clean water to the fish farm for its Sturgeon fish which is a valuable fish breed. The farm’s old water source was the Harachhu stream which officials said was deteriorating in quality.
The new water system will supply water from a new source located at Girichhu which is about three and a half kilometres away from the farm.
The project worth Nu 32 M is expected to be completed by May, next year.
