The government’s initiative to promote rural entrepreneurship programmes as a means to address unemployment and create job opportunities is proving to be a success in some parts of the country. The number of youth taking up entrepreneurship projects in villages is increasing. In Monggar, 26-year-old Sonam Gyeltshen, a lone spawn entrepreneur in the district has found his source of livelihood mushroom farming. It has become a lucrative business for him. He owns a mushroom farm and a spawn production unit at Kalapang in Saling Gewog.

Sonam Tshering, Monggar
