Economic Affairs Minister Loknath Sharma inaugurated the newly constructed Dhamdum bridge in Samtse today. With the inauguration, the bridge is now open to traffic. The 170 meters RCC wide beam slab bridge is along the Samtse-Tashichhoeling Secondary National Highway.

Unlike other projects, the construction of the Dhamdum bridge was completed ahead of schedule. The construction of the bridge was scheduled to be completed by March 2023.

The government of India funded more than Nu 155 M which includes design, construction supervision, and price escalation.

The old Dhamdum bridge suffered major damage in 2016 leaving ten gewogs in Samtse cut off, especially during monsoon season.
