The Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley arrived in the country today after a four day visit to Orissa, India. Lyonchhoen was in Orissa to attend the 115th annual General Assembly of the Mahabodhi Society.
While in Orissa, Lyonchhoen inaugurated the Temple of Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava, as a President of the Mahabodhi society. This is the last year of Lyonchhoen’s tenure as the President of the Society.
Lyonchhoen was also bestowed an Honorary Doctorate by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology and received the prestigious Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences Humanitarian Award 2012.
