Following the tough win yesterday, Thimphu City FC is now working to sort out the game strategies better in the next match. The fan favourites defeated RTC FC one nil in the opening match of the BoB Bhutan Premier League at the Changlimithang on Saturday. Although Thimphu City FC won the match, RTC FC put up a fight until the last minute.

The match lived up to everyone’s expectations with a late drama featuring a goal in the dying minutes of the game.

It was a truly satisfying game but a disheartening first match for RTC FC as Thimphu City FC’s mid-fielder Karma Shedrup broke the deadlock by scoring the winning goal in the 87th minute of the game.

“We won the match, we earned three points yet we have a lot to work and somewhere something has to be improved, so we will work on it,” said Ngawang Dendup, Head Coach of Thimphu City FC.

Meanwhile, the new club, RTC FC in the league proved to everyone that their reservation spot in the league is not a fluke.

Thimphu City FC is a very good team and a good player scored a goal against us. We lost one zero. And we are not down, we will come back very strong. We need to work on the attacking side because we are lacking there. But in defending and midfield, we are much stronger,” said Ugyen Dorji, Head Coach of RTC FC.

Almost 4,000 people turned up and cheered for the two cross-town rivals. Earlier today, the defending champions, Paro FC took on FC Takin.
