A Riverside Walk, a walking path along the river at the Farmer’s Market was inaugurated today. It was developed by the Tashichho Dzong Garden Project. It is part of an overall plan to develop green public spaces and gardens encircling the Tashichho Dzong.

The walking path loop is located between the Bazam at the Centenary Farmer’s Market and the concrete Dechen Zam. The 1.8-kilometre loop is constructed such that walkers never have to cross the road.

Rest areas, viewpoints, mini-gardens, and water filters are all located along the loop.

As part of the project, various gardens including a dinosaur park have also been developed at the Riverside Farmer’s Market.

The project has also developed a Rhododendron garden at Zilukha as well as lawns and gardens within a kilometre radius around the dzong.

The initiative is expected to encourage residents to spend more time on healthy recreation and social activities.
