Inserting a new sub-section, the National Council adopted the Tourism Levy Bill 2022 today. It calls for the Competent Authority to strengthen and implement strategies to ensure that the benefits of High-Value Low-Volume tourism are shared across all regions of the country.

The house also recommended that the revised Sustainable Development Fee will not affect tourists who have confirmed their travel before June 20, 2022, irrespective of whether they have made payment or not.

The Bill will be re-deliberated in the National Assembly tomorrow. The Tourism Levy Bill proposes a Sustainable Development Fee of 200 US dollars per tourist per night.
