Just after two months since the first private medical clinic opened, the popularity of Menjong diagnostic center has picked up. They have seen over a thousand patients till now. On an average, about 15 -20 patients visit the clinic every day.

People visiting the center said it is easy for them to avail the medical service. “The medical services at the national referral hospital are equally good but the difference is we don’t have to wait in queue and we can avail the service in a short time,” said Namgay, one of the patients.

Another patient, Dotay, said it takes time to avail diagnostic services at the JDWNR Hospital. “It takes a minimum of two weeks after we make an appointment. Sometimes it even takes months,” he said, adding that it takes just a day in the private clinic.

Apart from people visiting the clinic for the diagnostic services such as endoscopy and ultrasound, the center has also been giving emergency services.

The center located at Changangkha in Thimphu is headed by the former health secretary, Dasho Dr. Gado Tshering, and former consultant surgeon and Urologist with the national referral hospital, Dr. Sonam Dukpa.  The clinic is open from 9 in the morning till 5 in the evening on week days. It is open till one in the afternoon on Saturdays.
