Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa submitted its application for registration to the Election Commission today. As per the Election Act of Bhutan 2008, an application for registration of a political party shall be made to the Election Commission within one month of the formation of the party.

The ECB will now review the application before declaring it a political party. For now, the country has four registered political parties.

“After the scrutiny has been carried out, and once we get an approval from the Election Commission of Bhutan as per the rules and regulations, then we will be in a position to introduce all our ideologies as well as the values, then all the candidates who we feel we have one of the best teams that we have put together. And we will be able to introduce them to each and every not only to their individual Demkhongs respectively but also to the whole nation,” said Kinga Tshering, the President of the Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa.

Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa held its first party convention earlier this month. The party president and vice-president were also elected during the convention and the party charter was drawn and approved.
