Tyros United FC are the champions of this year’s Thimphu District League football tournament. They defeated Yal FC 5-1 in the final match of the tournament played yesterday at the Changlimithang national stadium. The club formed eight years ago, won the title in their first time participating in the league.

With experienced players and a strong forward lineup, Tyros United FC scored early in the game. By the end of the first half, the score was three goals to nil. The club added two stunning goals in the second half of the match. Meanwhile, Yal FC saved themselves from utter humiliation by scoring late in the 86th minute of the game.

“We have been training hard for this tournament. And even after this win, we will keep on working hard,” said the club’s manager as well as a player, Pema Rinzin. “We are very happy. But we are not going to stay idle after this win. We will work very hard to participate in the BSL next year.”

Tyros United FC will now play the Bhutan Premier League qualifiers that will be held from mid of next year. If they qualify, they will get to compete with the likes of Paro FC, Thimphu City FC and Transport United FC.

The team also took home a cash prize of Nu 50,000. Six teams from Thimphu took part in the league.
