A 55-year-old man was mauled by a bear on Thursday in Dorona Gewog in Dagana. The incident took place at around 1pm while he was looking for his cow. He was about a kilometre away from his house.

Our reporter, Surjaman Thapa, said the man was able to call his son before losing consciousness. Since the gewog is about a day walk from the nearest road head, he reached Dagapela hospital only on Friday. He had to undergo 25 stitches after suffering laceration on his head, face, legs and lower abdomen.

Doctors say he is recovering.
