The police in Tsirang have forwarded a rape case to the Office of the Attorney General. A man in his mid-thirties allegedly raped an older woman who is in her fifties on February 22. The police carried out a joint investigation after they received a complaint from the National Commission for Women and Children (NCWC) on February 25.

An official said they could not find evidence from the medical examination as the complaint was filed three days after the incident. The investigation team also found that the two knew each other and were already in a sexual relationship but the victim had refused during the time of the incident. Meanwhile, the suspect denied the allegations and claimed it was consensual.

The victim is currently seeking medical help after her daughter claimed that she has been mentally disturbed after the incident.
