The Bhutan Medical and Health Council is still in the process of investigating the death of a woman with COVID-19 in late January this year. An official from the Council said one part of the investigation was over and an independent committee meeting was also carried out. However, he did not share any other details.

In January, a 34-year-old woman from Samtse died in an isolation hotel in Thimphu. The health ministry said she succumbed to cardiac complications due to underlying kidney disease aggravated by COVID-19 infections.

Her husband had claimed on social media that they did not receive proper healthcare services.
