The time has come for the residents of Taktse chiwog in Trongsa to avail themselves of the health services from the doorstep. The construction of a five-bedded hospital is almost complete at Rala which is just about a five-minute walk from Taktse College. And it will be functional from May this year.

The new Primary Health Centre will not only benefit the three villages of Yulsar, Taktse and Tashidingkha but also more than 2,500 students of Taktse College of Language and Culture Studies and students of two schools in Dragteng Gewog.

For years, residents have been travelling to Kuenga Rabten Health Centre and the district hospital which is almost 25 kilometres away.

“When we do not have a hospital like this, we travel very far to Trongsa. This incurs huge expenses for residents and students here. But now, it will save our expenditure and time. Hence we are very grateful to the government,” said Nidup Gyeltshen, a resident of Taktse.

Many developmental activities are also in full swing around the health centre.

“Along with the hospital, a road is also constructed. And I started to build a house. The place here is developing now. Like me, there are four or five other households who are constructing houses in the above places. The hospital is immensely benefiting us,” said Sonam Gyeltshen, another resident.

The construction works began in January last year. For now, works to install floor tiles and wiring are yet to be complete.

Once complete, two health assistants and supporting staff will run the health centre.
