The Punakha District COVID-19 Task Force imposed movement restrictions in Khuruthang town and old Punakha town since yesterday following the detection of a community case. The notification comes two weeks after the Task Force started relaxations in these areas. Contact tracing is underway to ascertain the extent of the community spread.
The residents of Khuruthang and the old town areas will not be allowed to move out of their zone. Outsiders will also not be allowed to enter these areas until further notice.
But the Dzongkhag Task Force said the movement of vehicles between Lobesa and Kabisa Gewog will be allowed without stopping in between.
The residents can move within their zones and follow the timing in their movement cards. Likewise, the identified shops selling essentials will be allowed to open if the shopkeepers test negative for COVID-19.
The Task Force also notified that all offices in Guma Gewog and Khuruthang shall remain closed until further notice.
Khuruthang town along with two chiwogs in Guma Gewog became a Green Zone last month after mass testing. Likewise, the entire Punakha district was declared a Green Zone towards the end of last month.
Punakha recorded more than 80 positive cases of COVID-19 since the first day of lockdown in January this year
