Samtse Gewog and Throm sees further relaxations of lockdown but with caution. New COVID-19 cases are still being detected from the community. Samtse Gewog and Throm have been under lockdown for the past twelve days.

Apart from the movement timing and a few changes in the operation of business and shops, nothing much has been relaxed. The notification said residents will follow the new relaxations until Saturday.

The Task Force said that it is considering the continuous emergence of COVID cases from the community. Moreover, the dzongkhag started the week-long vaccination campaign for children aged five to 11 years yesterday.

The case is no different in Gomtu and Pugli. While the two villages will continue to remain under lockdown, shops have received the green signal to operate under containment mode with take-away services. Pugli and Gomtu have been under lockdown since January.

Meanwhile, looks like Norboogang residents will have to wait a little longer for the lockdown relaxations. The District Task Force extended the Zoning system until further notice. They, however, said that further relaxations or restrictions will be announced only after the completion of cluster testing scheduled on Saturday.

For now, Samtse has about four gewogs and two villages under lockdown. And as of today, the district has more than 400 active cases of Coronavirus.
