The government has placed an order to procure 180,000 doses of Pfizer Paediatric Vaccines for children aged between five to 11 years from the vaccine manufacturing company. But the health ministry is yet to get confirmation on the arrival of the vaccines.

The National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group or NI-TAG after reviewing the vaccine efficacy and safety recommended the health ministry to go ahead with the vaccine procurement.

Meanwhile, the country’s Drug Regulatory Authority issued the emergency use authorisation of the Pfizer Paediatric Vaccines today.

There are 83,227 children aged five to eleven years in the country.
